I recently acquired a Hydroponics Tower - as depicted in the image. Brand Nutraponics - I will keep updating as the plants progress and I learn more about the various aspects. My initial thought - considering the cost - I believe I would opt for a more affordable model - despite its high ratings.
2.2LBS - 3-4 mm natural clay is mined, formed into pellets, then kiln fired at high temperatures to cause the clay to expand into tough, lightweight balls. Clay naturally has balanced capillary action, with an ideal surface structure.
Gardening Ceramsite as a drain layer when be placed on the bottom of the pot to keep the drain open and increase the breathability of the pot.
Moisturizing: When the air humidity is low, the water in the basin surface is easy to evaporation. A layer of ceramsite on the surface can slow the evaporation of water. The ceramsite is fired from clay, and the structure is loose and has many voids, which can absorb some water.
Aesthetics: Cover the mud on the surface of the basin to prevent the soil particles from splashing when watering the flowers or spraying water. The clay pebbles integrate decorative, nutritive, breathable, water-absorbing and water-retaining.
I started a hydroponic tower - 48 pods. I bought a 10 lb bag of mixed size of 4mm - 16 mm. I wish that I bought all small size. And 48 pods did not use a 1/6 of the bag.
